The Scott Arms Burger Shak

Return of The Shak

From May through to September (weather permitting), the Scott Arms Burger Shak fires up its barbecues, serving up a feast of al fresco cuisine including a variety of fresh cooked, homemade burgers. Most of our ingredients are sourced from Dorset suppliers so you can be sure that not only is our food of a distinct quality but that it has a lower environmental impact and supports the local economy.

Please note that the Burger Shak is now open for the season and will fire up its barbecues right through to September.

Welcome to Kingston

There really isn’t anything to beat sitting outside in the sun, drinking a cool lager or a sharp pint of local cider. And while you bask in the gentle, warm sounds of summer, savour the aroma of freshly cooked burgers and enjoy a cocktail or two!

The Scott Arms Burger Shak is open most weekends between Easter and late September (weather permitting) and also for special events. There’s plenty of space in our garden but it gets mighty busy when the sun’s out so bagsie your place in the garden by reserving a table on the upper terrace.

White Park Cattle grazing on the Scott Estates overlooking Corfe Castle

The Burger Shak Ethos

In Purbeck we are lucky to have some of Britian’s finest and diverse livestock grazing; both sandy heathlands of Studland and Arne, as well as dramatic rolling hills – with great amounts of rain and sunshine that the grass loves!
The Scott Estate, and our partners at the Salt Pig, supply our kitchens with exclusive White Park beef, born and raised in Purbeck.

White Park are one of the oldest cattle breeds, arriving here with the Romans, and although a very rare breed they are thriving in Purbeck once again. You may have been out walking and seen their distinctive white coats with black nose, not forgetting those fearsome looking curved horns.

Superb Burgers

Our belief is a 100% grass-only diet and allowing the herds to mature naturally over many more years than commercial cattle (avoiding all supplements and growth additives) creates a natural favour that we think is hard to beat. We hope you enjoy your food here as much as we enjoy supporting local farmers who supply amazing local produce, with high animal welfare and standards, whilst minimising wasted food miles.

For those of you who prefer vegan and vegetarian options we pride ourselves in creating home-made wholesome, tasty burgers at the Shak, to complement our menu options such as smashed black bean and mushroom burgers and our tasty falafel burgers.

Our delicious burgers have a natural flavour that are hard to beat

Possibly the Best Pub Garden…

We might be biased but we think it’s possibly the best pub garden in Purbeck. The view has to be experienced. With Corfe Castle standing proudly in the centre and Poole Harbour in the far distance, looking north your eye can follow from Creech in the west all the way along the line of the steam railway to Swanage in the east.

The garden itself is massive: on three terraces it has plenty of room to sit and eat and drink. On sunny weekends or during the holidays we often have bands or DJs playing. All the while the smell and sizzle of The Shak’s barbecues keeps your tastebuds tingling. With friends, family, with your dogs or with kids, it’s the perfect place to drink in the view.
